RiverDogs Crossing – what is this?

A Second Chance Opportunity For RiverDogs Crossing – A Photo Blog

I had a web log – commonly referred to as a blog – for the first time in the late 1990’s. For many reasons that feels like it was a century ago. Almost everything I wrote about back then was related to the subject of photography – either the gear or the process, or the images themselves. I have been taking pictures since my teenage years and that was a while back. I am still interested in film cameras and of course digital cameras.

When I first began blogging, I used something called Radio UserLand and it was a pre-cursor pioneer to today’s tools that make it so easy to preview and publish much better looking content. Somewhere along the journey I used WordPress, then Zenfolio, and now I am giving WordPress another try. This is it.

After a few years I upgraded to other tools and published some things but not enough to write home (or anywhere else) about. I have had some online galleries for my images. I have galleries at two locations online and I will publish links on the blog when I want to highlight new photos or videos.

I think one of the problems for any aspiring photographer is to find your voice. I have many interests and for a long time early in my journey I had a hard time settling on one area of interest. The struggle continues, but I have tried to narrow the focus to portraits, travel, and automobiles.

Here is a link to my gallery on SmugMug: https://davidraaum.smugmug.com/.

Whenever I add new pictures to my gallery I will also plan to add an update on the blog so you can take a look at what I have been doing. The writing part of my journey will be posted on these pages and there won’t be any of that on the gallery pages. In fewer words – you will find words and pictures here, but only pictures there.

That’s a start and I will be back sooner than you know to continue the story.

My work for pay was technical writing. But my passion is collecting classic photo gear and using film cameras and digital cameras to capture images that inspire and motivate me. I hope that you are inspired as well. This site is more about my places that my wife and I go on our travels. Or articles about cameras and lenses that I am currently using. Sometimes I will include links to images that I want to share with you.
