Yesterday I finally got time to do some shooting with the Fuji GFX and the Zeiss 50 Milvus, the 135 APO and the Voigtlander Ultron 40 lenses. On the GFX sensor these lenses are going to be the 35mm equivalent of a 40mm lens, a 106mm lens, and a 32mm lens respectively.
All three lenses are Nikon F mount, manual focus with aperture rings, and I use the Fotodiox adapter on the Fuji GFX. The adapter can also be used with newer Nikon G lenses that don’t have aperture rings. There is a way to set the aperture with a ring on the adapter.
I am very pleased with the results. I used the capability to zoom in during focusing to ensure that the picture would be as sharp as possible. In most cases it was fairly easy and fast. Not as fast as auto focus but a lot more fun as it turns out. Net result of the testing is that I don’t feel like I have to spend a small fortune on new AF lenses.
So here are some of the pictures to show what these old lenses can accomplish.

There are several more pictures that show the lens performance at other apertures – some showing great depth of field and some like the preceding showing creamy smooth bokeh. In all cases, any these lenses on the GFX are going to be great for landscapes and portraits alike. I love the camera with these lenses. Here is one that shows more of a landscape look.
