San Miguel de Allende & Pozos de Mineral, Mexico (2009/2010)

Sometimes I have a plan and sometimes the plan takes shape through the day. Today is one of those days where I start with one idea but as time passes, the plan changes. I am OK with that. I started the day today panning to import the photos from our recent Mexico trip onto/into the computer. I was distracted by a film photos that I had taken 14 or 15 years ago.

We were in San Miguel for Christmas and New Years. The pictures were taken in that two week period at the end of 2009 and the start of 2010. I was using a Contax G2 35mm film camera and a medium format Rolleiflex 3.5D. The square pictures are from the Rolleiflex.

We have not been back to Pozos de Mineral for over 10 years. Maybe we will go there on one of our next visits. I am excited to see what has happened in that artist community in the past few years. As far as bullfights go, I don’t know if and when they are still happening.

The Bullfight

On New Years Eve – December 31, 2009, we went to the bullfight. It was a first time for me, and the bull had no choice and no chance. I’d like to do it again someday and get pictures with a better camera.

Pozos de Mineral, Mexico

We also took a drive to Pozos de Mineral, a small town maybe 50 KM from San Miguel. There were a lot of old walls and buildings. It was fun to shoot pictures there.

I hope you enjoy these pictures. I love finding old pictures that I haven’t seen for a while. I thought you would enjoy them as well. Until later, the Riverdogs are out of here.

My work for pay was technical writing. But my passion is collecting classic photo gear and using film cameras and digital cameras to capture images that inspire and motivate me. I hope that you are inspired as well. This site is more about my places that my wife and I go on our travels. Or articles about cameras and lenses that I am currently using. Sometimes I will include links to images that I want to share with you.
