Life in Pictures: Wine + Italian Art on Wheels

From the Austin Chronicle that week in August, 2011. The annual La Piazza Italiana takes place on the tree-shaded grounds of Laguna Gloria (3809 W. 35th) with Italian cars, scooters, and motorcycles, food and drinks, plus music, dancing, arts & crafts, and kids’ activities. $10 per person; kids under 12 get in free. Sunday, Aug. 21, 4-9pm.

The ad in the chronicle caught my attention. It said all the right words, Italian cars, motorcycles, scooters, food and drink — and, it was going to be at Laguna Gloria, a location with abundant grounds and scenic beauty.

The pictures were taken the afternoon of Sunday, August 21, 2011. My camera was the Nikon D7000, my only digital camera at the time. I think was shooting with a Nikon 35-70 2.8 lens, my favorite lens that I had purchased years before, when all my pictures were shot on a Nikon F100 film camera.

It was a great day in Austin, and I got some photos that have stood the test of time. Here are a few more.

Red and yellow can look so good together – who would have thought?
My special person

Great cars, great motorcycles, great vino, and great memories.

My work for pay was technical writing. But my passion is collecting classic photo gear and using film cameras and digital cameras to capture images that inspire and motivate me. I hope that you are inspired as well. This site is more about my places that my wife and I go on our travels. Or articles about cameras and lenses that I am currently using. Sometimes I will include links to images that I want to share with you.
