The third Saturday of October is five days from now. It’s important to me because every third Saturday, of every month, classic cars from Austin and the surrounding area make the trip to the square in Georgetown, Texas. When the weather is good, cars start arriving before 8AM and by 9AM there are hundreds ofContinue reading “Pistons On The Square”

Three 6 X 6-Shooters
I want to share some recent pictures I have taken with my 6 x 6 medium format film cameras. I have a Yashica Mat 124G (1974-75 timeframe), a Rolleiflex 2.8D (1956) and a Rolleicord Vb (1966). I’ve owned the Yashica Mat 124G the longest, but it is the most recently manufactured of the three cameras.Continue reading “Three 6 X 6-Shooters”
Pistons on the Square – the Ides of March
The Ides of March is March 15 and marks the anniversary of the death of Julius Caesar at the hands of his friend Brutus in 44 BC. No such event this year as it was a gorgeous morning in Georgetown, Txas. I was out with my Nikon D850 and a single lens – the TamronContinue reading “Pistons on the Square – the Ides of March”
A Walk in the Park
It’s a stones throw from our house to the park. Many of our days in San Miguel include a short walk in the park. On the weekends we have the bonus of artists showing and selling their wares. Here are some of the people and artwork we saw during our last visit to San Miguel.
Black, White & Fuji GSW 690
I don’t want to overstate this or put too many words in this post. Just a few examples of TMax 400 from my recent shoot with the new to me Fuji GSW 690. The camera is probably close to 30 years old, originally designed to take pictures of tourist groups in Japan. The stunning characteristicContinue reading “Black, White & Fuji GSW 690”
It’s All About the Light
Light or lack of light is the great equalizer for capturing great images with your camera. It doesn’t matter if you are shooting with a film camera, or a digital camera, the light is what enables the image. So, the other day when my wife Kathy wanted a picture of her with Phoenix (her horse)Continue reading “It’s All About the Light”
Pistons on the Square (Old Film Camera Pictures) November 16, 2024
I carried two cameras to Pistons on the Square two weeks ago. One was a Fuji medium format digital and the other was a 40+ year old Olympus 35mm SLR. This posting features pictures taken by the Olympus OM4 with the OM 50mm 1.4 lens from 1983.
Life in Pictures: Wine + Italian Art on Wheels
Wine and fine cars – what’s not to like? An event from Laguna Gloria, Austin, Texas in 2011.
A Life in Pictures
Originally I was going to start a series of posts that would have one picture a day. The picture would inspire a story that would talk about the why, what, where and when aspects of the photograph. I may still do that, but the title that summarizes the whole thing is “A Life in Pictures.”Continue reading “A Life in Pictures”
It’s a Beautiful Thing…
What exactly am I talking about here – “It’s a beautiful thing” could be about just about anything. It could be an act of kindness, an interaction between two or more people, a new car, a house, a picturesque landscape, a camera… and on and on. Well in this case it is kind of aboutContinue reading “It’s a Beautiful Thing…”
